Positive: The location of Casa do Castanheiro is absolutely fantastic, the view directly from the house is stunning. You see bare, wild mountains, with artificial lake at the bottom of the view. The house is well equipped in terms of multimedia (TV, audio, internet works reasonably well considering remote location). There is plenty of kitchen equipment! Bathroom is nice, not new, but well maintained and reasonably clean. Outeiro is located within borders of a national park, it is great for hiking and general tourism around the area. The hosts are not on site, but are very helpful at arrival and during stay, getting in touch was very easy!. Prior to arriving I read the reviews of the house, they mentioned tricky arrival/parking at the location. It is indeed very tight, but so is the whole village. Be prepared for very tight manouvers and cm level spaces between car and walls/steps/stones etc.

Negative: One thing only: maintenace/general cleanliness. I understand that this is a country house, and I absolutely do not expect furniture of other equipment or be new. However, when there are bread crumbles in the kitchen at our arrival, plates are not necessarily the cleanest (examples only, there were more, not so fresh details), this I would not expect. This is THE ONLY issue at Casa do Castanheiro, I honestly wish the hosts ramp the cleaning up making this otherwise perfect place... well, actually perfect!
