Our house is called 'O Ilios' (EOT certified: MHTE 1039K10002978501)
Our stone house in Pitsidia called "O ILIOS". It lies on the southern coast of Crete, Heraklion and 65 km below was built 11 years ago by a local builder. It is therefore very specific Cretan features. The walls are 40 cm thick, and this is both in summer and winter very pleasant.
Pitsidia is an original Cretan village with stunning views of the Psiloritis. Until May you see the snow on the mountain tops, the 2400 meters high.
The beach is 2 km away and you are walking, cycling, or scootert Drive with the car going. It is a wide, clean beach and is very quiet. In southern Crete is about 9 months summer.
In the house itself you can stay with up to 5 people. There are 2 bedrooms, one for 2 people and one for 3 persons. Both upstairs and downstairs is a bathroom. In the downstairs bathroom, with tub, is also a washing machine. Since 2013 free wifi.
In the well-equipped kitchen with electrical appliances, including dishwasher, it will lack nothing. The living room has a cozy fireplace which is fueled with olive wood. The house has air conditioning.
Around the house there are 4 terraces sunbeds / garden furniture is available, so you can always find a sunny and / or sheltered spot. We are sure that staying in "O Illios" an unforgettable vacation.
Pitsidia is a small traditional Cretan village near Matala on the south coast of Crete. The accommodations and restaurants are of good quality, and the people are very friendly.
A walk through Pitsidia puts you in the first place on the "platia." Here you can between the cafe / restaurants / shops sit on one of the terraces and a cool drink order with some mezes (savory snacks).
You undoubtedly pass the "supermarket" of Kostas. Here they sell absolutely everything. And his second such nice Pitsidianen.
Further along you'll pass the church which is illuminated at night beautiful.
In the village you will find also a butcher, good pastry and plenty of small grocery stores and restaurants.

Buses Pitsidia: All buses to go through Pitsidia Matala, in the summer there are six buses per day to Matala, Heraklion, Phaistos and Agia Galini.
Around Pitsidia: You can Komos beach on foot in 30 minutes. In the neighboring village of Kalamaki is a short walk from 4 km, walking along the main road and Komos beach. Matala is 4 km away. The slightly more inland town of Sivas can be reached with a nice walk through the olive fields in about half an hour.
WALKING:
So many opportunities to make wonderful hiking from Pitsidia. Around Pitsidia extend the olive groves out. In January / February bloom below the anemones. It's a beautiful sight, the Mount Ida with its snowcapped mountains and down the colors of the flowers. In winter the temperature is usually between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. A wonderful walk is also to nearby Kalamaki, beyond the first hill you see are Kalamaki by the sea with a clear blue sky above. You can go on a terrace and a cool drink and snack before taking the return is accepted. Walking through one of the gorges, Samaria (18 km) for the experienced walker or Oleander gap with flowering oleanders in April and May (9 km). The surroundings of Zaros is for hikers very worthwhile.
SIGHTS IN THE AREA:
Phaistos is located in the south-central Crete and will surely be appreciated by people who love history. You can enjoy a beautiful panorama because it sits on a hilltop. Across the street is the excavation of Agia Triada. You can buy a combination ticket for both sites. Even when Komosstrand you find an excavation where still being worked on, this is not (yet) to visit. Want some more remote than can be found on the way to Heraklion, just before Agia Deka, Gortys, a Roman settlement, very interesting. You learn that the emancipation in ancient times was already well advanced. And then of course the main excavation of Crete, Knossos, south of Heraklion.

Mires is a larger town with about 5 000 people. It lies about 13 km from Pitsidia and you can easily come up with the local bus. Every Saturday there is a nice market. You can also find a post office and several banks here. In Timbaki you can also fine to buy groceries. The market in Timbaki on Friday morning.
